Episode 3: Changing times
What was left of the old farm house was being lashed by fine rain, and the bitter wind made the whole experience of moving to the New farm a somewhat harsh event. Rowd reflected that planting up in this weather was to say the least not an enjoyable event, but necessary if the family was eat. His work boots were heavy with clods of soil, which would make digging even harder and the new poly cotton work trousers chaffed. Then as if by magic the sun broke through the gray water laden clouds and began to shine down on the new plot. Things were beginning to look better than the last week and the move to the New farm offered the promise of better things to come. Thought now turned to selecting seeds for an april start and ensuring the soilwas fed to bring on the best crop possible.
